We’re a special lot. We’re unique and every one of us has a different story to tell.
Some of us were born in New Zealand. Others were born in the Pacific and ventured to New Zealand shores to raise or join their families.

We are Diverse
In New Zealand, Pacific people account for the fourth largest ethnic group.
The eight main Pacific ethnic groups in New Zealand are Samoan, Cook Islands, Tongan, Niuean, Fijian, Tokelauan, Tuvaluan and Kiribati.
Faith is important to Pacific People, with seven out of ten affiliated with one or more Christian religions.
Most Pacific people live in Auckland, with some four per cent residing in Canterbury.
Youthful and Growing
The majority (55%) of Pacific peoples in New Zealand are under the age of 25 (across New Zealand the number of New Zealanders aged under 25 years-old is 34 per cent.
The median age for Pacific peoples is 22 years-old, much younger than the national figure of 38 years-old.
At present, ⅓ of the Pacific population are Pacific children. And by 2038, Pacific children will make up almost one fifth of all New Zealand children.
Meanwhile, one in eight workers under 39 will be Pacific.
By 2038, the Pacific population will account for 11 per cent of the country’s total.
