Create a painted kōhatu

Painting kōhatu (stones) is a great way to unleash your inner artist!
You will need
- Kōhatu (stones or pebbles) big enough to paint on
- Coloured acrylic paint (small test pots)
- A couple of paintbrushes (different sizes)
- A permanent marker
- Coloured markers (optional)
What to do
- Wash and dry your kōhatu.
- Use a medium-sized brush to paint one side of your kōhatu (or leave it unpainted).
- Leave to dry then paint the other side.
- Once dry, use your marker to draw pattern outlines.
- Use the small paint brush to paint on designs.
Get creative!
- Make a special kōhatu with the name of a loved one who is no longer here.
- Make small kōhatu into magnets for your fridge.
- Use your painted kōhatu to decorate your garden.
- Make your very own pet kōhatu (with hair and goggly eyes).
- Write an inspirational message on one.
