The grief process

Grief is the outcome of loving and losing someone or something in life.

It is a difficult experience that most of us will have to endure at some point. It's comforting to know that we're not alone in this, but it's also important to understand that we may experience grief in different ways to one another.

In the early stages, grief can seem all consuming. Even though it may seem impossible to imagine in the beginning, you will 'grow around it'.

The Mental Health Foundation website is a great place to go for more on grief and loss.

Island of Grief

Following the death of his wife in 2013, Rupert Murrell and his young family explore trying to find happiness again.

This project was designed to be viewed by children and adults that have suffered loss, but should be accessible to all.

Backed by the British charity WAY (Widowed & Young) the film hopes to help others who find themselves in Grief.

Grief in pictures

Artist Mari Andrew has created some helpful (and hopeful) illustrations from a very personal perspective that highlight grief experiences perhaps better than words can convey.
